Day One at Avon Tyrell
After a very soggy bus journey down the A34—during which the children were wonderfully well-behaved, if not slightly over-excited—we arrived at Avon Tyrrell absolutely buzzing with anticipation! Once we’d unloaded our suitcases, we headed inside for a quick debrief before the real fun began.
The weather has been a cheerful mix of showers and dry spells, but nothing has dampened anyone’s spirits. For our first round of activities, the children took part in crate-stacking (complete with helmets and harnesses), tried their hand at archery, tackled a fantastic challenge course, and even enjoyed some free time exploring the beautiful grounds. Many embraced nature wholeheartedly—tree hugging included—and a lively game of hide-and-seek broke out among the trees!
Lunch was a comforting choice of macaroni cheese or jacket potatoes, and dinner was an absolute treat: pizza and chips followed by bread-and-butter pudding. Safe to say, no one went hungry! All the children are happy, settled, and thoroughly enjoying themselves.
At the moment, there’s a cheerful queue forming for the showers as everyone gets ready for an evening of bingo around the fire with Mrs Ferguson, who is enthusiastically rehearsing her jokes. Fingers crossed we avoid any “6 and 7s”!
Please keep an eye on the school website—we’ll continue to update it regularly with news from our adventure.
